First Time Bowling

On Saturday we thought it would be fun to go bowling, Vi has never been bowling. She had so much fun! She really got the hang of it pretty quickly. We did have the bumpers up (Eddie and I only used them once each, haha). Although she did still get one gutter ball. We only played one game because we weren't sure what she would think if it but next time we will def play at least one more.

It was so cute, she would throw the ball down the lane and then come running back. She did really well for her first time, her score was 57. Not bad...

First Dance Recital

Today was a very busy and exciting day, it was Vi's first dance recital. She was going to do the hip hop dance that she has been taking since last Aug. About 2 months ago she started taking tap and ballet also but she wasn't going to do those classes because she didn't have the costumes. Well, yesterday after the class there was a girl with a costume that wasn't going to do the recital and she said Vi could use the costumes, so she was able to do the tap and ballet also. So she did three dances and she did them all so well!! We are going to get a DVD of the show at the end of the month.

This is Vi and Melissa, her teacher. She is wearing the borrowed ballet costume.

This was onstage right before the curtain went up for the hip hop class. She had a solo and the crowd went wild after she did it!

She of course had to do a cute pose for the camera :)

Vi cut her own hair...

As you all know I refuse to pay $25 to get Vi's hair cut so I just do it myself. She has come to know the drill...wet hair and cut. Well, on Saturday I was taking a shower and Vi was downstairs with Eddie watching TV. I get out of the shower and I hear the faucet turning off and on in her bathroom. What is going on I wonder? Ms. Victoria is wetting her hair and has cut it on both sides up to her ears. Surprisingly she did a good job but she only cut it in the front.

We were already running late for dance so I told her I would finish it up when we got back. It looks really cute! I have always liked her with shorter hair, looks good with her facial structure. We did however have a talk about how she can not cut her hair. Len told her she could not cut her hair until she was 12, knowing Vi she will remember that and on her 12th birthday she will pull out the scissors...HAHAA.

Summer Schedule

Well, this was the first full week of summer vacation and the first week I am working from home. So what better time to start a new schedule. I haven't been to the gym in quite some time so I wanted to get that in there somehow. Here is what I came up with for the days that I am taking Vi to camp (Tues, Thurs and Fri) - up by 6 breakfast, dressed and to summer camp by 7. Then to the gym and back home by 8:30ish to start work. Then on Tues (Thurs starting in July) leave by 3:45 to go get Vi and to dance by 5. On Mon and Weds Vi is staying home with me so we are going to get up and do a workout video. We will see how long this goes...basically I am going to be driving around the valley like a maniac.

Yesterday was the first day of this new schedule. It went off with only a few hiccups. I forgot breakfast so Vi and I stopped at Starbucks. It actually turned out very nice because we went in and sat down and ate together. Then she just sat on my lap and cuddled for a few mins. It was a good day. And today has been ok so far too. Vi and I did a workout video. She was so cute doing it.

We will see how long it lasts...

Introducing the High School graduating class of 2021!

On August 4th we dropped her off for her first day and on Thursday May 20, 2009 Vi graduated from kindergarten. I can not even believe the year is already done...it has gone by so fast.

I am utterly amazed at how much she has learned over the past 10 months. She is reading and writing, she can count by 5s and 10s, she knows addition and subtraction, she knows about space, volcanos, the ocean, the list goes on and on. Vi has always been independant and confident but she is even moreso now. (I am totally crying right now.) She was very lucky to have the most amazing teacher, Mrs. Smith. I can not sing her praises enough!

As you have all heard throughout the year Vi has made some really amazing friends. She had a good group of kids in her class. There are three of them (the three amigos) that have had many ups and downs, three girls is never a good thing and at the same time is the best thing as I learned during the third week of school. One moment they were the best of friends and the next they were "not going to my birthday party". Vi kinder year would have not been the same without them, they are her sisters as she likes to tell everyone.

So...til we meet again, my amigo friend...

The Easter Bunny

So Vi can be very random...today on the way to school she said "the Easter Bunny forgot to get me something". Now if by Easter Bunny you mean mom and dad then yes, she was correct. Between my Dad and my Aunt she got plenty of Easter treats so Eddie and I didn't offically get her an Easter present.
But I digress, so we were talking about the Easter Bunny and she says, and I quote "well he or she didn't bring me anything." So I questioned this, he or she, what does that mean? Vi says...well I don't know if it would be a boy or girl. It is just someone in a costume. There is no such thing as a big talking bunny.
She cracks me up!! She is right, a giant talking bunny, please people...

The beginning of the end...of Kindergarten

Tonight was the Kindergarten Music Program. This kicks off the beginning of the end of the school year. There are officially 15 school days left in the year. All 6 of the kinder classes got together and sang songs they have learned throughout the year. It was hot and crowded and full of crazy parents. But most of all it was very, very cute! Vi did a very good job. I took some video on my camera. It was the first time I have used my camera for video and it was very hard to get good shots around all the other parents so you will have to excuse my abilities.

Here they are singing brown bear. They all did a great job with the sign language also.

Now here is where I start my rant...at the end of the program they pulled all the aides on stage to give them flowers and say goodbye. Yes, that is right, they were laid off due to budget cuts. One of the aides had been there since 1995! AHH...it makes me so angry! Why must they cut education?!!? And at the same time I am so grateful...I am grateful that Vi made it in to kindergarten this year. I am grateful that I got pregnant right way because if I would have gotten pregnant just 1 month later she wouldn't have made it in this year. Next year there will be more kids per class and no aides to help the teachers, and you know who suffers, the kids!!

Ok, enough of that, back to the fun stuff...there is a lot of fun stuff packed into the next 15 days with a "Celebration of Learning" to close it off on May 21st.

After that is Summer Camp and then on to First Grade. I can not believe that my baby is completing her first year of school. She has done such an amazing job and has learned so much (how to read, addition, subtraction, counting to 100 by 1s 5s and 10s and that is only the short list). We love you Vi...Mom and Dad are very, very proud of you!!
