Last week Vi was the Star Student of the Week. She had to bring stuff to school that she liked or told something about her. She brought some pictures of herself and some family pictures. She also brought the book Who Stole the Cookies? to read to her class. The teacher hung the pictures and Vi talked about herself and what she liked one day in class. All the students in her class had to write a note to her and then the teacher made a book for her. The bold words were already there and then they had to fill in the rest. Here are some on my favorites...
You are special because You PloY gub You aer Prite and sPeCHl and You Hav Prite Hir
You are special because she does not hava cat
You are special because you have dog and I don't. YOU like purple and I don't you like Zebraas and I don't you like swimming and I don't. Your friend Payton
I like the way your teeth sporcks wean you smil
I like the way You are a srter
Love it...
Victoria is an amazing little girl with a personality beyond her years. These stories are just a few of the many joys of being her mother.

Dinner
Tonight Vi and I were sitting at the table eating dinner, chicken and rice. We were having a nice cinversation when Victoria stops and says did this meat come from an animal? I said yes, now eat your chicken. She stopped and put her fork down and looked at me. She then picked up her fork and said I didn't know animals were so delicious and took a big bite. She is so funny...

Morning Annoucements
Every day at Vi's school they have morning annoucements. Well, it is a big deal to go on the annoucements with the principals. Although the "theme" of this year is Star Trek, Peace and Peace Days is what they talk about and strive for every day. Well today Vi wore her new peace shirt and asked her teacher if she could go on annoucements. Her friend Alexandra was also on the annoucements. Here is a picture during the filming...

Busy Bee
With half of week two of school done we are still getting into the groove of the new routine. I'm thinking the first month will have some kinnks but after that we should be smooth sailin'. We met with her teacher for cirriculum night last night which was very informative. The main emphasise this year is reading, reading, reading! We need to be reading with her between 10-20 mins a day. Eddie already reads with her every night so she is well on her way.
One thing Mrs. Asta talked about again, which we already knew, was the budget cuts and how they are really affecting the school. There will be no homework packets sent home. Ddaily homework will be reading and going over her spelling words. In regards to math they are not so much doing "math problems" as much as they are working on critical thinking and investigative reasoning. How to solve problems, not what is the solution.
I really like Mrs. Asta, she reminds me a lot of Vi's kinder teacher (who we LOVED). It is going to be a great year!!

Bowling Party
Today was Victoria's 6th birthday party. She chose to have a couple of her friends at the bowling alley. We had a great time...
We got her some ballons.
Here is a picture with Alexandra and Sonny.
Action shot...she runs up to the line then stops and throws down the balls. It makes me laugh every time.
After a game of bowling we had some pizza.
Here is her birthday cake. She really wanted the candles that spelled out HAPPY BIRTHDAY. They however were not the best candles. When Eddie was carrying the cake to the table all but 2 of the candles went out so we had to light them again. And then they burned so fast we barely made it through the song and the candles were almost all the way burned down.

6 year stats
Vi went for her 6 year check up today. Her "stats" are as follows: height 43 1/4, weight 40 lbs, BP 96/50...basically she is a healthy six year old! Just like the last six years she is in the 25 percentile.

Happy Birthday Victoria!
Six years ago today at 3:20 pm Victoria Paige was born...that's right, my baby is 6 years old!! We had a very fun, very busy day...
Vi had school til 12:30 today (Weds is early release day) so since I am still unemployed I thought I would spend my time making multi-colored cupcakes with multi-colored frosting. That's right folks, no two cupcakes are the same. They turned out really cool.
After school we went to McDonalds with her best friend Alexandera and her mom Julie. They ate and played a little then it was off to get our toes done.
Vi and Allie got the same thing, purple polish with a yellow peace sign on their big toe. Very fashionable! After getting our toes done it was off to dance class. Today was Pom & Cheer and then Gymnastics. Finally home for dinner. Vi requested mac and cheese and a peanut butter sandwich. After a few bites it was time for the cupcakes. Vi carefully chose pink cake with purple frosting.

Eddie and I sang to her and then she made a wish and blew out the candle (we had to do this twice so I could get a good picture, she is so funny).

First Day of First Grade
Today was Vi's first day of school. She is now in "grades" as she calls it and has been telling anyone that asks her if she is excited that "grades are boring". Despite what she said she was excited for her first day. Last Thursday we met her teacher. Her name is Mrs Asta, although for the first three weeks she will have Mrs Dodson because Mrs Asta had unexpected back surgery and will be out. If you recall from last year her teacher hurt her knee on the third day of school and was out for two weeks. Hopefully this isn't a trend. Although it is teaching her to be adaptable to change so I guess that is good.
Each year the school has a different "theme". Last year was Gecko Jones (after Indiana Jones with Gecko being their mascot). This year is Star Trek...Learn Long and Prosper and features teh Gecko with pointy ears. Hahahaa.
Hopefully this year is as good as last year. Mrs Asta has some big shoes to fill because Mrs Smith (her kinder teacher) was SOOO amazing. One thing I am sure of...some good stories to come!
