Pumpkin Walk

Halloween Week 2008 has been a very busy week!! Like every other week V has dance on Monday and Gymnastics on Wednesday. On Thursday at school she was carving pumpkins for the Pumpkin Walk Thursday night. On Halloween they had a spider party at school and then trick or treating...breathe, breathe.

I was going to help out at school for the pumpkin carving. We had to bring a gutted pumpkin and carving tools. We also had to bring her costume for the Pumpkin Walk. Well...I forgot her costume. I felt TERRIBLE! I was sure I was going to lose my mother of the year award. We had to stay at the school until all the kids pumpkins were carved. I had to leave at 11:30 because I had a very important meeting at 12 (I was already missing a meeting with the president of the compnay so I had to be there at noon). I was hoping we would get done early and I could go buy a back up. Luck was on my side...9:15 we are done! I am on my way to get a costume...first place, no luck...very picked through. Second place, cute pirate costume...$16.99...no way. I go to the Halloween store with plans to just buy black ears and a tail for a black cat. She was wwearing black leggings. All I needed was a black shirt. I called the Dad of V friend that we were going trick or treating with to see if V could borrow a black shirt. He said they had tons of costumes and to not buy anything, thank goodness! And that was fine with her. She was very excited to wear one of her friends costumes.

First Real Play Date

This is going to sound wierd but V just had her first play date with a girl from school. We have always lived kinda far away from school so we really haven't had play dates with school friends. Well the first week of October was her fall break. So that Thursday I offered to take her friend to hang out with us (her parents had to work). We had a very busy day planned...we went to the park, painted pottery, had lunch, read books at the library, went to a movie, stopped to get ice cream and tehn went to her house for dinner. Yes, all in one day. The girls had so much fun!!

First Parent/Teacher Conference

...or parent, teacher, student conference. Yes, V had to come to the meeting too. It is the parent/teacher conference of the new era. Overall it went well. Victoria is doing well and making a lot of improvement. She is really good at patterns which is the base for multiple things including reading and math. She does need to work on counting and sight words. She needs to know 39 sight words before the end of kindergarten and she already knows about half. Her teacher did mention that V doesn't really like to eat lunch. A lot of time she eats it on the way home. I think she just isn't hungry. That being said we did make a trip to the store on the way home to pick out some different things for her. We'll see if she eats.
Eddie and I are very proud of her. She is a smart, funny, beautiful, sassy, strong girl and we love her more than anything in the world.

Mama's Birthday

So today is my birthday and anyone who knows me knows how much I LOVE my birthday. No matter how old I get I will always be a kid on October 19th. Victoria helped me celebrate and we had a very good day! My Mom and her dog Wyatt and Melissa and Sammie came over. It was a nice celebration.

Hello Kitty Shine Star

Victoria has decided she does not like her name and wants to change it. It doesn't understand why Eddie and I picked the name Victoria and has asked us to call her Hello Kitty Shine Star. So there you have it...I told her when she is 18 she can go and have it legally changed. Her response was...fine, but please call me Hello Kitty until then.

It's finally fall in Arizona

Today, October 5th, we finally turned off the air conditioner. It was a beautiful day! It was so nice to open the house and get some fresh air. It has cooled to the mid 80s. It is actually kinda chilly, well chilly when you are used to 100 plus degrees. But it is days like today that remind us why we moved here, remind us why we deal with the hot summer.

Now that we only have Stella we are able to go to the dog park. We found a park, Friendship Park, that is huge and has a dog park as well as a park for V to play on. Stella found some mud to lay in...
We had such a nice time!

Hiccups

One of V's very cute quirks is that when she laughs very hard she gets the hiccups. Every time. And she really hasn't ever gotten them except when she laughs hard. Well yesterday for no reason whatsoever she got the hiccups. And then she got them again a couple of hours later. She was getting really frustrated and said..."what the heck is going on? I haven't even been laughing." I found this so funny because it is sometihng she jsut picked up on. I never said hey, every time you laugh you get the hiccups. She just picks up on things...
